Too big for the bin, too heavy for the car.
Lambeth Council does run a paid collection for large items, but it has limits. A booking tops out at ten items, everything has to be outside on the pavement or in the front garden on the day, and some things, such as plasterboard and tyres, aren’t accepted at all.
We work differently. There’s no item limit, we collect from inside on whichever floor you live, and we come when it suits you rather than on a set date. For a Brixton flat with a narrow stair, that’s often the difference between getting rid of it this week and living with it for another month.
Mattresses, carpets and metal each go somewhere different, so we separate them as we load. Metal goes for recycling, anything usable is passed on, and the rest goes to licensed facilities. Tell us roughly what you have and we’ll bring enough people to carry it.

- The ten-item limitA council booking takes up to ten items. If you have more, or a mix of large and small, one visit from us usually covers the lot.
- Estate bin areasOn Lambeth Housing estates, large items have their own process, shown on the poster in each bin area. If that doesn’t suit your timing, we collect straight from your flat.
- Stairs and liftsTell us the floor and whether there’s a lift. Mattresses and baths are heavy and awkward, so we send enough people to carry them safely.
